The Glückstein quarter itself grew up on former railway land next to Mannheim's Hauptbahnhof, developed as the city expanded around its station in the decades after the railway reshaped Mannheim's southern edge, and it has since settled into a mixed residential and commercial pocket rather than a purely industrial one.
