# BASE Coworking – München Maxvorstadt

BASE occupies one floor on Blütenstraße in Maxvorstadt, and its whole design argument is that a coworking space should be small enough that the people in it stop being strangers. The operator calls it a boutique space where everyone knows everyone, close to feeling like a single team — a claim a 500-desk building cannot make and does not try to. What that buys you in practice is a working day among the same faces, in a district full of students, agencies and research spinouts a few minutes from LMU and TUM.

The floor is built for concentration first. Eight phone booths take the calls that would otherwise be held at a desk, which is the single decision that most determines whether an open coworking room is bearable to think in. Two meeting rooms absorb anything longer, and on the Fixdesk and team-office memberships their use is unlimited rather than metered by the hour. Desks are made by a carpenter rather than bought flat-packed, chairs are ergonomic, plants are there for the air as much as the look, and daylight reaches deep into the room.

There are three ways to work here. The Flexpass is ten coworking days a month with no contract at all, billed monthly by invoice, giving you a desk and nearly every service except meeting-room use and a locker — the operator flags it as available in limited numbers. The Fixdesk is your own permanent desk with a locker, an ergonomic chair, 24/7 smartlock access, unlimited meeting rooms and, if you want it, your company address as "c/o BASE"; its minimum term and notice period cap out at three months. Six private team offices hold up to eight people each, fully furnished and separately lockable, on a six-month term with no deposit — every one of them has at least two electrically height-adjustable desks from eliot, a Munich smart-furniture maker the space works with.

The two meeting rooms are also let to people with no membership at all. The Konfi is 40 m², seats eight around the table or sixteen without it, and carries a 90-inch screen with Apple TV; the Lounge is 30 m², seats six at the table or nine without, with a 40-inch screen. Both come with workshop equipment, whiteboards, flipcharts, office supplies, fast WiFi, good coffee and tea, and an on-site contact person, with optional catering flat rates for drinks, soft drinks or breakfast.

What is not on the invoice matters as much as what is. Cleaning, electricity, high-speed WiFi, printing, office supplies and the barista coffee and tea flat are all inside the rent, so a team office here does not generate the Nebenkosten a conventional Munich lease does. Community management sits on the floor, and the events calendar — community lunches, workshops, networking evenings — is the mechanism behind the operator's promise of access to its network in Munich's business and startup scene.
