# HQ Atlantic House

Hamilton Street is one of the streets that run off Hamilton Square, the Georgian square planned in the 1820s by the Scottish shipbuilder William Laird when he began to lay out the new town of Birkenhead beside the Mersey. Atlantic House, at 18-22 Hamilton Street, CH41 1AL, belongs to that quarter, which still has the feel of a small civic centre: the grand town hall of 1887 on the square, terraces of old merchants' houses, and cafes, solicitors and small firms in the streets around it.

The location is the headline, and the operator gives the figures. Hamilton Square railway station, on the Merseyrail Wirral line, is a very short walk from the door, and trains run under the river to the centre of Liverpool. The Queensway Tunnel is a short drive away, and the operator puts Liverpool city centre about two and a half kilometres across the water. The River Mersey itself is a short walk off. For a business that wants a Liverpool-area address without Liverpool rents, this is as close as Wirral gets, and a client can come by train from either side of the river.

The building offers a private car park, which is not a given in a town centre with historic streets, plus fully furnished workspace, a stocked kitchen, business-grade WiFi, dedicated coworking space and meeting rooms that can be reserved through the operator's app. A lounge area is also listed.

Birkenhead has a long working history: Cammell Laird shipyard, the docks and the engineering firms that grew around them. Those industries still shape the town, and the regeneration of the waterfront has added housing, offices and public space. Birkenhead Priory, the oldest standing building on Merseyside, and the ferries from Woodside show the long ties with the river. For tenants, the town offers lower rents than across the water and a staff base from Wirral, Chester and North Wales.

Who is it for? Marine and engineering consultants. Surveyors, solicitors and accountants with Wirral clients. Contractors working on regeneration and port projects. Training providers, recruiters and charities that want a meeting room reachable by train from Liverpool. Small companies that need a registered address in Merseyside but are not tied to a central Liverpool location. A team from outside the region can use the rooms for a week of client meetings and leave without a fit-out.

Before booking, ask the centre about office sizes, the booking rules for meeting rooms, how visitor parking works and whether the address can be used as a registered office. Because the building is central, it is worth viewing it on a normal weekday morning so you can see the street and the walk from the station.

A word on the Wirral side of the river. Many firms in the Liverpool city region choose Birkenhead for its mix of access and cost: the rail link under the Mersey means clients and staff from Liverpool are not discouraged by the crossing, while the road network brings Chester, Ellesmere Port and North Wales within reach. The town also has the practical benefits of any compact centre: banks, solicitors, a market, supermarkets and a choice of lunch places within a short walk of Hamilton Square, so errands do not need a car. For a sole trader or a team of five, that means the office is simple to run, and for a visiting director from another city it means one train journey and a short walk from the platform to your door.
