# Klinge22 Coworking – Leipzig Plagwitz

Klinge22 sits inside a working factory courtyard on Klingenstraße in Leipzig-Plagwitz, and the coworking floor is arranged as six small named rooms rather than one open hall. Each room holds between four and ten desks, which means joining here is joining a group the size of a room, people you will actually come to know, rather than taking a numbered seat in a hall. Alongside the coworking rooms there are six private offices and five small rooms for meetings and calls. The building shows its origins honestly: tall windows throwing light across warm wood floors and raw steel beams, exposed timber trusses under the roof, and an operator that describes the result as cosy and unconventional, a place for focused work without the sterile office atmosphere.

The rooms each have their own character and their own crowd. The Dachstube is the sociable one, ten places with an open view across the rooftops, with the shared kitchen and three small rooms for calls, meetings and downtime immediately next door. Flex Desk is a smaller room of six workstations with a comfortable sofa corner, bookable through a digital calendar for whichever days of the week suit you. Up under the roof, the Taubenschlag revolves around the written word: writing, reading and reporting. It is fitted with a speaker booth for podcast recordings. The Maisonette is the rustic one, with a lot of wood and light, a stylish, large, warm room for four with a view into the greenery. The Noisy Office exists for people who are permanently on the phone or in online meetings and do not want to retreat to a meeting room every time. The Spielraum is a beautiful room looking into the green, with its own kitchen, bar and lounge and a locker for personal belongings.

The infrastructure is more serious than the relaxed setting suggests. Cable internet delivers up to 1000 Mbit/s down and 50 Mbit/s up in every room, and a stable wired LAN port is available at each desk, a real distinction in a city where a lot of creative space runs on Wi-Fi alone. Five separate rooms from 2 m² to 15 m² can be used at any time for meetings, calls and video sessions, and the courtyard, garden and lounge work for the same purpose informally. A professional Canon A4 colour printer and scanner is free to use. A Nuki electronic lock gives keyless access around the clock by smartphone or code, with access rights carefully managed and logged.

Breaks happen away from traffic noise, which is the practical benefit of a courtyard address. There are three tea kitchens in the house plus one large communal kitchen where members genuinely cook, and the resident caterer serves its Lunch BOX canteen in the first courtyard from Tuesday to Friday, 11:30 to 13:30, with plenty more within a five minute bike ride. The yard and garden are used for working, sitting out, table tennis and, regularly, workshops. Every two weeks the house starts the day with a community breakfast, which is where most people here first meet the other members.

The other tenants are a large part of the value. The same address houses the KESSELKOLLEKTIV producers, an oil mill, manufacturers of spreads, chutneys and tempeh, an ice cream maker, a caterer and a brewery with its own beer garden, alongside a software company, a web and app agency, a specialty coffee roastery, photographers, a ceramics studio, a music studio and a yoga and dance studio in the same courtyard. Klinge22 puts the effect plainly: short distances and fast answers on marketing, communications, IT, coaching and consulting, because the person who knows already works in the building.
