# MACHWERK — Social Coworking in Berlin-Mitte

MACHWERK is a social coworking space in Berlin-Mitte, set between the river Spree and the Fernsehturm and just one minute on foot from S+U Jannowitzbrücke. The community started out in 2018 in the historic Alte Münze and has since moved to a new, larger home at Holzmarkt 66, where more than 500 m² now hold over 80 flexible and fixed workstations for freelancers, founders, NGOs and teams who want their work to have an impact.

The move kept the roots intact: solidarity among members and support for projects that move Berlin still come first. Non-profit associations, gGmbHs, foundations, artists, students and women founders get reduced rates, and the team favours products with sustainable supply chains and organic certification.

## The space
Bright rooms with high ceilings, large windows and plenty of plants look out over the Spree and the Fernsehturm. Every desk is height-adjustable, and members choose a flexible or fixed spot, by the window or in a quiet corner, with or without mail service. Five single phone boxes and a larger booth for up to four people handle calls and spontaneous meetings, alongside fully equipped meeting rooms, a sofa lounge and a kitchen with a bean-to-cup coffee machine.

## Community and events
Every membership includes a coffee and drinks flat rate and a seat at the fortnightly community breakfast. The event space now takes up to 150 guests for networking events, company parties and workshops. Restaurants on the ground floor cover lunch, and the building is shared with the hemp brand Mery Jane and, on the third and fourth floors, D!'s Dance School.
