# Mindspace Friedrichstraße

Very few offices in Berlin can claim what this one can: the entrance to Stadtmitte, where the U2 and the U6 cross, is essentially at the door. Not a five-minute walk, not "close to" — you come up the stairs and you are outside the building. Mindspace Friedrichstraße sits at Friedrichstraße 68, and the commute is the first thing worth understanding about it, because it changes who can realistically work here.

From Stadtmitte the U6 runs north to Friedrichstraße station and south towards Tempelhof, while the U2 runs west to Potsdamer Platz and Zoologischer Garten and east to Alexanderplatz. Friedrichstraße station itself — S-Bahn, regional trains, and the north-south tunnel that carries most of the city's cross-town traffic — is about three minutes on foot. Französische Straße and Unter den Linden are both inside ten. In practice that means a team spread across Charlottenburg, Prenzlauer Berg, Kreuzberg and Potsdam can all reach the same desk in under half an hour, which is not true of most addresses in this city. There is also parking, which in central Mitte is genuinely unusual and worth knowing if a client drives in.

The building is Mindspace's flagship in Berlin and it is fitted out accordingly. The main lounge is the room the floor plan is built around: sofas, planting, low tables, and enough of it that people work there rather than only pass through. Along one side, green library shelving frames a long communal table. The coworking desks run under the window line, and one of the meeting rooms is glazed with a world map, which is the kind of detail teams remember about a room. Two terraces sit above, and they are sunny ones — this is a building where the summer working day genuinely moves outside, and where after-work gatherings happen on a roof instead of in a bar.

The address matters for a second reason. Gendarmenmarkt is one block east, which means the view from parts of the building is of the Konzerthaus and the two cathedrals rather than of another office block, and it means the obvious place to take a visitor is ninety seconds away. The Friedrichstadt-Palast, the Staatsoper and the government quarter along Wilhelmstraße are all inside the same walking radius. This is the formal end of Mitte: embassies, law firms, ministries and the people who visit them.

What is on offer here is a focused range. Mindspace Friedrichstraße sells day passes, the network-wide membership, and meeting rooms by the hour. It does not sell a bookable private office by the day, and it does not publish an event-space rate. Private offices exist in the building — this is a flagship, not a hot-desk floor — but Mindspace quotes them on request rather than listing a monthly price, which is how they handle private offices across Germany. If your requirement is a closed room for a single day, Krausenstraße, Zimmerstraße or Ku'damm are the buildings with that product.

For everything else, the day-to-day list is complete: wifi, phone booths, a staffed reception, the coffee and soda bar, lounge areas, bike parking, step-free access, parking, wellness sessions run weekly, and round-the-clock access for members. Dogs are welcome. The community programme is busier here than in the smaller buildings simply because more people pass through.

Who it fits: consultants and lawyers whose clients arrive by train, distributed teams that need one address everyone can reach, and companies who want a Mitte postcode that reads as established rather than experimental. It also suits anyone who likes the calm of the government end of Berlin once the working day is over. It is a commuting building above all — and on that measure there is barely a better-placed workspace in the city.
