# Mindspace Gendarmenmarkt

Mindspace Gendarmenmarkt is arranged in person rather than booked online. It sits inside the Hilton Berlin on the south side of Gendarmenmarkt, and it sells private offices and meeting rooms only, arranged directly with the team rather than through the app that runs the rest of the network. That single fact shapes everything else about it.

The square outside is the reason the address exists. Gendarmenmarkt is the piece of Berlin that survived the twentieth century well enough to still look like the eighteenth: the Konzerthaus in the middle, the Französischer Dom and the Deutscher Dom facing each other across it, and a stone surface that fills with Christmas market stalls in December and with people eating lunch on the steps the rest of the year. The building's own view is of the Dom from across the street, which is not something most workspaces can put on a listing honestly.

Inside, the fit-out is more hotel than office, which follows from where it is. Private offices run behind glass fronts along a hallway, screened with a botanical film that gives a room privacy without taking its daylight, over herringbone floors. The lounge has a checkerboard floor, a timber bar, green banquettes and enough planting to soften a room with a very high ceiling. The meeting room is a round table under a red pendant lamp with a wall screen behind it, and it is the sort of room a client remembers rather than endures. None of this is Mindspace's standard industrial vocabulary; it reads as a hotel that happens to have offices in it.

What the hotel adds is genuinely useful rather than decorative. Members get the Hilton's fully equipped gym, its pool and sauna area, and parking on site, which in central Mitte is close to unobtainable at any price. Around that sits the usual Mindspace operating layer: fast wifi, quiet booths for calls, a soda and coffee bar, comfortable lounge areas, business printers and IT support, cleaning, bike parking, weekly yoga, weekly community and professional events, and access around the clock for members. Dogs are welcome throughout the building.

Getting here is straightforward in a way few Berlin addresses manage. The U2 station on the corner carries the same name as the street, Anton-Wilhelm-Amo-Straße, after the philosopher who studied and taught at German universities in the eighteenth century and whose name replaced the old one the street and the station used to have. Stadtmitte, where the U2 crosses the U6, is a few minutes on foot, Hausvogteiplatz on the U2 is a similar distance in the other direction, and the Hauptbahnhof is around twenty minutes door to door. Friedrichstraße, the Museumsinsel, Unter den Linden and the ministries along Wilhelmstraße are all inside a short walk, and Checkpoint Charlie is ten minutes south.

Who this suits is specific. It is built for a team that wants a private, quiet, client-facing office in the most formal part of Berlin, with a hotel's facilities behind the door and a square out front that does the work of an introduction. Law firms, funds, associations, family offices and the German arm of a foreign company are the natural fit, and so is anyone who takes visitors from abroad and would rather they arrived somewhere legible.

This building is built around private offices and meeting rooms, and everything about how it is sold follows from that. Both are quoted after a tour rather than listed at a price, so the first step is a conversation — worth starting early if your approval process needs a figure before it can move. Members who also want a coworking floor or a day pass have other Mindspace buildings within about fifteen minutes, Krausenstraße, Friedrichstraße, Zimmerstraße and Hausvogteiplatz among them.
