# Mindspace Herengracht

Grachtengordel does not have office parks; it has canal houses, and Mindspace has taken one of the youngest additions to its Amsterdam collection at Herengracht 168 and turned the whole building into a workspace without stripping out what made it worth protecting in the first place. The Amsterdam Canal Ring is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and this address sits inside it: a preserved seventeenth-century canal house with views over the water, on a street built during the city's Golden Age and never widened for cars, only for foot traffic and bicycles.

Walk in and the first room that matters is not a desk floor but a staircase: an ornate marble entrance with historic statues and original frescoes overhead, the kind of arrival sequence no newly built office tower can fabricate. From there the building opens into what Mindspace calls its monumental rooms — elegant private offices set inside the canal-house structure, built for teams who want space, quiet and a serious address rather than an open-plan bullpen. Because this is the newest of Mindspace's three Amsterdam locations, the restoration work is recent, and the building carries the polish of a first fit-out rather than years of wear.

The signature room here is the UNESCO Heritage Boardroom: a canal-view boardroom with original frescoes preserved on the ceiling, dressed in Golden Age detailing, and built specifically for presentations and pitches rather than routine internal syncs. This is a single, singular room, not a bookable box among a dozen identical ones: a destination boardroom rather than a functional one. Bring a client here when the room itself needs to help make the case.

Beyond the boardroom, Herengracht rents its private offices in two ways. Three bookable Daily Offices for 8, 16 or 25 people suit a team flying in for a project sprint, a company running a week of interviews, or an offsite that needs a real room rather than a rented desk for a morning. For a longer stay, the canal house also rents private suites by the month, furnished and serviced, for 8, 12, 16 or 20 workstations, the twelve-workstation suite set in the souterrain, so a team can move into a seventeenth-century address without planning a fit-out. Each suite is listed with its monthly rate in the pricing section of this page.

Herengracht is focused: there is no day pass and no monthly coworking membership on this floor plan. The building is built around private offices, monthly suites, boardroom bookings and events rather than drop-in coworking, and members who want a flexible hot-desk membership find it at Mindspace's other Amsterdam buildings.

The third product is the event space, also €280 an hour, and it comes with access to the building's least expected feature: a hidden private garden tucked away from the street, invisible from the canal frontage. It gets used for coffee breaks and informal chats during the working day, and for summer socials and product launches after hours — a courtyard advantage that a glass office tower simply cannot offer, because it depends on the building's age and layout rather than on square footage.

Day to day, the building runs on Mindspace's standard operating layer: the Mindspace app for bookings and access, 24/7 entry, a staffed reception host, hot desks and quiet booths alongside the private offices, comfortable lounge areas, a soda and coffee bar, IT services and business printers, cleaning services, weekly community and professional events, bike storage for the canal-side commute, and a step-free, accessible entrance built into a seventeenth-century facade — not something every heritage building manages. The garden gives outdoor access without leaving the building, which matters in a district with almost no green space of its own.

Getting here means arriving like a Golden Age merchant would have: on foot or by bike along the water, roughly ten minutes from Amsterdam Centraal station. There is no dedicated parking, which is normal for Grachtengordel and part of why the canal ring still looks the way it does — cars were never really invited in.

This building suits a specific kind of tenant: a company that wants a canal-house address for client-facing work, a boardroom that closes a deal because of what it looks like as much as what happens in it, a team that needs a private day office for a defined stretch, or a business ready to settle into a furnished monthly suite inside the UNESCO-listed Canal Ring. For a flexible desk to drop into for an afternoon, Mindspace's other Amsterdam buildings are the natural match; for a room that does part of the persuading, Herengracht is hard to beat.
