# Mindspace Ku’damm

The roof is the reason. Mindspace Ku'damm sits high in the FÜRST development on Uhlandstraße, the redevelopment that replaced the old Ku'damm-Karree, and its terraces look out over City West in every direction — the television tower one way, the roofs of Charlottenburg the other, the Gedächtniskirche standing in the middle distance. Members eat lunch up there, take calls up there in summer, and hold their after-work gatherings up there, which is not something most Berlin offices can offer at any price.

Underneath the terraces the building is fitted out for the things people actually complain about missing. There is a podcast studio, a real one, for teams that record rather than rent a room somewhere else for the afternoon. There is a family room, which sounds like a small thing until you need it. The phone booths are set behind patterned doors instead of the usual grey pods, the pantry and coffee bar are staffed rather than a vending corner, and the atrium terrace on the working floors gives you somewhere to sit that is neither a desk nor a meeting room. Wifi, a staffed reception, lounge areas, bike parking, step-free access and entry around the clock come as standard, and dogs are welcome throughout.

The meeting rooms run from small screened rooms up to boardrooms, all bookable by the hour through the Mindspace app and open to people who are not members. The event space is the largest of the bookable rooms and the terraces are the reason companies choose it: a launch in City West with a roof to move onto afterwards is a different evening from a launch in a windowless suite.

For teams rather than individuals, the most useful product here is the private day office. It is sold by the day and scales unusually wide — from four people up to twenty — so it covers everything from a two-person client meeting to a full offsite, without a lease and without the awkward month of notice. Bigger than that, or longer than a day at a time, and Mindspace quotes privately; they do not publish a monthly rate for private offices in their German buildings, and it is worth knowing that before you plan around a number.

The location is City West rather than Mitte, and that is a real distinction, not a technicality. Uhlandstraße on the U1 is a few minutes' walk. Savignyplatz, on the S-Bahn, is about ten, and Zoologischer Garten — regional trains, several U-Bahn lines, the airport bus — is a quarter of an hour on foot or one stop away. Kurfürstendamm itself starts at the corner: department stores, the Literaturhaus, the theatres, and the restaurant streets around Savignyplatz that stay open when Mitte has gone quiet. For anyone whose clients sit in Charlottenburg, Wilmersdorf or Schöneberg, being here rather than east of the Tiergarten saves an hour a day.

The ways in are the same as elsewhere in the network but land differently in this building. A day pass is a seat in the open space for one day, and at Ku'damm it also buys you the roof for that day, which makes it a better trial than most. All Access opens every Mindspace worldwide and suits someone whose weeks move between cities. The day office and the event space are booked as needed, by the day and by the hour respectively.

This is a large, new, polished building, a different register from the exposed-brick, converted-factory coworking of Kreuzberg. The Ku'damm end of town reads as established and reassuring. And while the rooftop comes into its own in summer, the podcast studio, the day offices and the U1 make the case all year round.

It suits consultancies, agencies and scale-ups who want a City West address with real amenity behind it, teams that need a closed room for a day at short notice, and anyone whose work involves recording, hosting or presenting to people who have to be impressed by the room.
