# Mindspace Münzstraße

Münzstraße is the short, busy stretch that runs from the edge of Alexanderplatz towards Rosenthaler Straße, and it has spent the last two decades turning into the street Berliners actually shop on — independent labels, sneaker shops, small design studios above the ground floors. Mindspace Münzstraße sits in the middle of it, in a restored building with the high ceilings and tall windows that survived from before the street had any of that, and it is deliberately the smaller, quieter kind of Mindspace rather than a floor-plate operation.

The building shows its age in the good way. The main room reads more like a library than an office floor: long shared tables, open shelving down one wall, and enough ceiling height that the noise never gathers. Up under the roof there is a meeting table set beneath a skylight, which is the sort of room a building like this has and a new one does not. A barista café operates on site, and the lounge around it — pendant lights, a proper counter, a few armchairs — is where most of the informal half of the working day happens. At street level the facade carries a lit MINDSPACE sign, so you will not walk past it looking for a number.

What you get day to day is straightforward and worth listing honestly: meeting rooms bookable by the hour, phone booths, a staffed reception, the coffee and soda bar, lounge areas, bike parking, step-free access and entry around the clock for members. Dogs are welcome. Weekly community and professional events run out of the same rooms. There is no rooftop terrace here and no in-house gym — this is a boutique building on a shopping street, not a tower with a wellness floor, and it works because of that rather than in spite of it.

The location is the argument. Weinmeisterstraße on the U8 is a couple of minutes away on foot; Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz on the U2, with the Volksbühne outside its exit, is about five; Hackescher Markt with the S-Bahn ring services and Alexanderplatz with practically everything else are both inside a ten-minute walk. Half a dozen tram lines pass within a few hundred metres, which in this part of Mitte is often faster than the U-Bahn. The Hackesche Höfe are around the corner, Torstraße's restaurants are one block north, and the Scheunenviertel — Berlin's old Jewish quarter, now the densest concentration of galleries in the city — starts immediately west of the door.

That density is the practical reason to be here rather than in the government end of Mitte. Client lunches, a place to send someone for coffee, a bar for a team that finishes late, a gallery to walk a visitor through: all of it is within the block. It also means the street is loud on a Saturday and busy on a weekday afternoon, which some people want from a workplace and some very much do not.

Mindspace sells four things in this building. A day pass takes a seat in the open space for one working day, booked online, no commitment. Meeting rooms book by the hour, for members and visitors alike. The all-access membership opens every Mindspace worldwide and is made for anyone for whom Berlin is one stop among several. And the event space books by the hour for launches, screenings and receptions — a room with real windows and a café attached, which is a different proposition from a hotel basement.

Private offices exist in the building too; Mindspace quotes them on request rather than selling them by the day, so a small team wanting a closed room for a single afternoon can look at Krausenstraße or Zimmerstraße. If what you want is a seat for the day, a meeting room by the hour, or a room to hold an event in, everything here is priced and bookable today.

Who it suits: designers, agencies, small product teams and solo operators who want to be in the middle of the part of Mitte that has shops and galleries rather than ministries, and who would rather work in a converted old building than a new one. And it suits anyone who enjoys a street that is busy on a weekday afternoon and lively on a Saturday.
