# Mindspace Zimmerstraße

This building is aimed at a specific size of company, and knowing that up front saves everyone time. Mindspace Zimmerstraße is the boutique option in Berlin Mitte: a smaller floor plate, hotel-inspired interiors, private terraces and balconies attached to the offices rather than one shared roof, and a day office sized for six people. It is built for small teams who want a room of their own and a building that does not feel like a corporation, and it is not trying to be the flagship two streets north.

Walk in and the first thing you meet is a wall of phone booths beside the lounge — a practical signal about how the space is used, which is by people who take calls all day. The main lounge sits under an arcade of white arches with a yellow banquette running along one side and sculpted seating opposite, and it is the room that makes this building recognisable in photographs. The bar runs under hanging pendant lights. The coworking desks sit in an arched window bay. One meeting room is finished in deep green and blue with a screen at the end of a long table. Nothing here is enormous; everything is finished.

The address is Zimmerstraße 78, and this street carries more history per metre than almost any other in Berlin. The Wall ran directly along Zimmerstraße for its central stretch, and Checkpoint Charlie — the Allied crossing point — stood at the corner with Friedrichstraße, a couple of minutes west of the door. What was a death strip is now the media quarter: publishers, agencies and newsrooms occupy the blocks either side, and the Axel Springer campus is a short walk east. Working here means passing a piece of that history every morning, which some people find meaningful and others simply find convenient.

Transport is straightforward. The U6 at Kochstraße/Checkpoint Charlie is a two-minute walk; Stadtmitte, where the U2 and U6 cross, is about six; Hallesches Tor and the Anhalter Bahnhof are both within a quarter of an hour, and the bus routes along Wilhelmstraße cover the government quarter directly. It is a very central address that is nonetheless quieter than Friedrichstraße itself — the difference of one block matters here.

The commercial offer is broad rather than narrow, which is unusual for a building this size. A day pass buys a seat in the open space for a working day. The all-access membership opens the whole Mindspace network. A private day office holds six people behind a closed door for a day at a time — the single most useful product here for a small team, because it covers an interview round, a workshop, a board meeting or a client day without a lease. And the event space books by the hour for launches and receptions.

The standard operating layer is all present: wifi, phone booths, a staffed reception, the coffee and soda bar, lounge areas, bike parking, step-free access, weekly community and professional events, and access around the clock. Dogs are welcome. The terraces and balconies are the feature worth checking in person — they attach to specific rooms rather than being a single shared roof, so which office you take determines whether you get one.

For a longer private-office term, Mindspace quotes on request; no monthly private-office price is published for their German buildings. If a fixed monthly figure is what you need in order to decide, ask for it early rather than planning around a guess.

This suits founders and small teams of up to about six who want their own room some of the time and a designed, quiet, extremely central building the rest of it. Anyone who wants a rooftop bar and a crowd will find them at Ku'damm or Friedrichstraße, both a short ride away.
