# St. Oberholz Coworking Berlin Mitte – Torstraße

St. Torstraße occupies the former pharmacy of the Schönhauser Tor building at Torstraße 49, on the corner where Torstraße runs into Schönhauser Allee in Berlin-Mitte. St. Oberholz describes the building as looking faintly surreal and a little out of its own time: a post-reunification exterior wrapped around a 1920s core. It is that oddness the operator leans on rather than any glass-tower polish. A working café takes the ground floor, in the pharmacy's old rooms, and the coworking floor sits directly above it, with windows onto the junction and onto the new Suhrkamp publishing house across the way.

The cluster logic is the single biggest thing separating this address from the operator's Kreuzberg sites. St. Oberholz positions Torstraße as complementing its existing Mitte houses both conceptually and functionally, and says the Mitte campus now runs across three buildings along Torstraße, all within a comfortable walk of one another and usable interchangeably by members. A member here is buying into a cluster rather than a single building: take a call in one house, a workshop in the next and lunch in a third without ever leaving the network or paying twice for the privilege.

Hours and access are published together, and the access is the generous half of the pair. The house is open Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 18:00 and at weekends from 10:00 to 16:00 — that is the café-and-reception window. Users of the flex offices, the operator adds, have access at any hour of the day or night, so the offices themselves run round the clock for members. In practice a late session is possible but the café will be shut, and anyone whose working pattern depends on staffed hours should plan around the shorter weekend window.

The published extras here are social rather than cosmetic. Renting means being invited to the bi-weekly Members Breakfast and to the operator's exclusive workshops and member events, and members get ten percent off downstairs in the café — coffee, flat white, fresh tea and croissants. Beyond that the floor supplies WiFi, a kitchenette, phone booths for private calls, and self-contained team rooms alongside the flexible desks, all with access to the house community. Two of those team rooms are free right now, described below.

Two team offices are free at Torstraße right now, and they are built to be taken on their own or together. The smaller one seats six on 22.5 square metres, the larger one seats eight on 30 square metres and has its own phone booth, and because the two rooms sit side by side and are joined by a door, a team of fourteen can take all 52.5 square metres as one connected unit. Both are fully air-conditioned, with automatic external shading and soundproof glazing towards the junction, and a water dispenser serves filtered still and sparkling water. The offices come furnished and ready to move into, with cleaning, consumables, utilities and facility services included, round-the-clock access, coffee in the community kitchen, and the meeting rooms of the whole Mitte campus to book within a fair-use allowance. Terms are deliberately light: there is no minimum term, notice is three months, and longer commitments earn a discount on the list price.

Transport is the other argument the operator makes at length, and it holds up. The entrance is directly at the Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz U-Bahn station on the U2, and St. Oberholz rates the connections as very similar to those of the Rosenthaler Platz parent house a few minutes west. For anyone weighing Mitte addresses against each other, that puts Alexanderplatz, Prenzlauer Berg and the whole eastern half of the city within a short ride of the desk, with Torstraße itself supplying the studios, agencies, bars and restaurants at street level.
