# The Studio at Eiswerk

The Studio is the coworking room of Techspace Eiswerk, and it sits inside one of the more remarkable buildings on the Berlin riverbank. Eiswerk was built at the end of the nineteenth century as an ice cooling house, one of the first of its kind in Europe, and today its seven floors and more than 4,600 square metres on Köpenicker Straße hold private offices, meeting rooms, an event space and a members' community of over 750 people. The Studio is the most flexible way into that building: a calm, focused room of hot desks and fixed desks for people who want the address, the café and the community of Techspace Eiswerk without taking a whole office.

The location is the stretch of Köpenicker Straße between Mitte and Kreuzberg, on the banks of the Spree, where the river has long been lined with warehouses and industrial buildings and is now home to studios, offices and a growing number of tech companies. Ostbahnhof, with its S-Bahn, regional and long-distance trains, is about nine minutes on foot, the U8 at Heinrich-Heine-Straße about eleven, and buses stop at Köpenicker Straße and Adalbertstraße just outside the door. From here Kreuzberg's cafés, the riverside paths and the offices of Mitte are all within an easy walk or a short ride, and there are more than thirty parks and green spaces within 800 metres by our count.

Inside, The Studio is designed as a quiet space for concentrated work away from distractions, with the shared lounge and café, run with a barista, right next door for the moments in between. Studio members use fast symmetric fibre internet, bookable meeting rooms and phone booths, and free kitchen supplies, and they share the wider Eiswerk building with its staffed reception, post handling, cleaning, bike storage, showers, a wellness space, breakout areas and a terrace. The building is also dog-friendly, which matters more to Berlin freelancers than most spec sheets admit. It is a genuinely comfortable place to spend a working day, and the mix of Studio members and the companies in the private offices upstairs gives it the energy of a much larger campus.

The plans are built around how often you actually come in. A day pass gives you a hot desk on weekdays during the day and is the easiest way to try the room. Three hot desk memberships follow: one for up to four days a month, one for up to eight days, and an unlimited plan for people who are in most days, all with weekday access from early morning into the evening. For anyone who wants a permanent base, the fixed desk membership adds your own dedicated workstation, your own access card with access around the clock, and six hours of meeting room coins every month, enough for a regular client meeting or a weekly team session in a proper room. Hot desks are booked subject to availability, so members who want a guaranteed seat every day usually choose the fixed desk.

Because The Studio lives inside a full Techspace building, it also works as a first step for a growing company. A founder can start on a hot desk plan, move to a fixed desk as the work settles into a routine, and later talk to the Techspace team about a private office in the same house, without ever changing address. Techspace runs a second Berlin location at Lobeckstraße in Kreuzberg, with its own Studio, as well as workspaces in London, so teams that split their time between cities will find a familiar setup in each.

The Studio at Techspace Eiswerk suits freelancers, remote employees and solo founders who want a quiet desk with character, part-time members who come in a few days a month, and small teams that want to test the building before committing to an office. It is especially attractive for anyone who likes the idea of working in a piece of Berlin's industrial history beside the Spree, with a café downstairs and the river outside.

The starting price of each membership is listed on this page, and the exact offer depends on the plan and how many desks you need. Tell us how many days a week you expect to come in and when you would like to start, and we forward your enquiry to the Techspace Eiswerk team and help you arrange a viewing. Our service is free for you, with no commission.
